Title: Florida gives its medical marijuana office $13.3 million more despite criticism

13.3 million dollars has been approved to fund the state office regulating medical marijuana use. Since the legalization of medical marijuana, legislation committees have been reluctant to get anything done, blaming outside factors for their "lack of effort". The money will go towards several operations, including a software program to better regulate the patients and their payment information. This will also include tracking of the drug as it is grown and packaged to sell. In this situation, I think their is two groups who are affected by the problem. The consumers of medical marijuana are being held at standstill as legislation is struggling to move forward; however, with this money put into place the dispensaries will be positively affected. With this much money now in circulation, several improvements can be made within the medical marijuana economy.

Miami Beach is struggling to find funds as several ways to raise money are being considered. Lack of new development and a rise in the cost of living has caused financial burdens on Miami Beach, leaning them to create advertisements around the community. The advertising initiatives and suggested merchandise that is put in place will hopefully give funds to the arts and education programs. This could be seen as an opportunity to raise awareness for any issue while also giving money back to the community.

Because of this, one of the largest medical marijuana treatment centers has been forced to stop processing cannabis. This affects the workers of these centers and the consumers who need it.

Miami-Dade is one of the least affordable counties to live in, especially with a teacher's salary. The county has now turned to voters, asking to fight for a raise. In retrospect, Miami-Dade residents have been willing to tax themselves in order to improve school funding. This problem affects the teachers tremendously, but also giving them a great opportunity to fight for their future.

Sam Smith, a Fort Pierce resident was arrested after being pulled over for a simple speeding ticket. The cops smelt an odor of marijuana and asked him to step out of the car. The startled 21 year-old quickly ran, dumping drugs out of his pocket and into the bush. This is now a problem for Samuel Smith, having to pay bail at $28,250. After arresting Smith, officers now have a lead on future drug dealers.
